DR. PETER BROBERG
Dr. Broberg was born in Iowa, but grew up in Richardson, TX. After high school, he studied at the University of Texas, graduating with the highest honors in Anthropology. He attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and graduated with high honors in 1978. After an internship at Mercy Hospital in San Diego, he continued his eye residency in Houston at Baylor College of Medicine before beginning his practice in 1983 in South Austin. During his training, he was elected Chief Resident and awarded Outstanding Intern.
Dr. Broberg continues to be a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor fraternity. He is also a current member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, member of the Texas Ophthalmology Society and the Austin Ophthalmology Society. He is also currently a member of the Travis County Medical Association and a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
He has been voted by peers and featured in Texas Monthly Magazine as one of Austin’s “Super Doctors” and Austin Monthly Magazine’s “Best Doctor” recognition for three years in a row. He has also been recognized by the Consumers Research Council of America as one of “America’s Top Ophthalmologists” in 2006. He resides in South Austin with his wife, Diane and his two children, Abby and Danny. In his free time, Dr. Broberg enjoys sailing, jogging, and spending time with family and friends.
DR. HALSEY SETTLE
Dr. Settle was born and raised in Corsicana, TX, and graduated from Corsicana High School. He attended Oklahoma State University on an athletic scholarship, receiving three varsity letters, and graduating with a Bachelors of Science degree in Physiology. He was selected one of the “Top Ten Graduating Seniors.” He attended medical school at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston graduating in 1971. After graduation, he performed his internship at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin and subsequently went into the Navy serving on active duty for 10 years as a Submarine/Diving Medical Officer. During his active duty tour in the Navy, he completed his Ophthalmology Residency training at the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego from 1976 through 1979.
After release from active duty in 1980, Dr. Settle returned to Corsicana and joined the Medical Arts Clinic where he had a very successful practice in general ophthalmology and became a leading refractive surgeon for the local area. He continued his Naval service in the Naval Reserve as the Commanding Officer of several Medical Units at Naval Air Station Dallas. He completed 27 years of total service and retired in 1993 with the permanent grade of Captain. He was very active in raising his children in Corsicana, was involved in multiple school and community activities, and served on many local boards including the local school board.
After 19 years in Corsicana, he moved to Austin to be near his family, and became a partner with Dr. Broberg in 1999. Dr. Settle is a member of the American Medical Association, Association of Military Surgeons of the United States, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the Texas Medical Association, A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Board of Ophthalmology. He also is a current member of Travis County Medical Society, Texas Ophthalmology Society, and Austin Ophthalmology Society. He has been voted by peers as one of Austin’s “Best Doctors” as featured in Austin Monthly Magazine, as well as being selected one of the “Best Doctors in America.”
Dr. Settle currently resides near Oak Hill with his wife, Donna, and has four children and one granddaughter. He enjoys spending a lot of his time with them, playing golf, jogging, and traveling with his wife and friends.
DR. WILLIAM MCGLATHERY
Dr. McGlathery joined our family of doctors in 2006 and has been a wonderful addition to our practice. He was born and raised in Jackson, MS. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans and graduated with a degree in Anthropology. He attended medical school at the University of Mississippi in Jackson, MS, where he graduated with honors in 2000. He completed his residency and internships at the University of Missouri Medical Center. In June 2003, he received the Scientific Research Award from Mason Eye Institute. He was also awarded Chief Resident in 2004 for the Department of Ophthalmology at the Mason Eye Institute. He remained on staff at the University until 2006 serving as an attending physician responsible for teaching cataract surgery.
Dr. McGlathery is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and a member of the American Ophthalmology Association, American Medical Association, a current member of Travis County Medical Society, and Austin Ophthalmology Society. He now resides in Austin with his wife, Stacia Miles M.D., and their children Alexa and Christopher. He enjoys cycling in the Hill Country and spending time with his family.
Dr. Ximena de Sabra
Dr. Ximena de Sabra is the most recent addition to our family of doctors. She joined our group in 2015 after more than ten years of practice in West Lake Hills. Dr. de Sabra has a longstanding relationship with the University of Texas Athletic Department, serving as Ophthalmologist to their student athletes. She also serves her Eye MD colleagues as a member of the Texas Ophthalmological Association Executive Council.
